Kerry and The Dingle Peninsula Explored - Vittorio Silvestri
On Friday 9th October the Bangor club welcomed Vittorio Silvestri a past president of NIPA [The Northern Ireland Photographic Association]
Vittorio is no stranger to the club having visited many times as a judge and to present his photographic work .

Vittorio had on display images from his many journeys in the company of a group of club members . Meeting up with a fellow photographer who resided in Co Kerry and whose knowledge of this wild and beautiful costal region was invaluable.

Weather ,tidal conditions .time of day and safety matters always need to be considered and especially so with coastal and beech photography .
Vittorio adopted a slow shutter speed technique anything from a few seconds to five minutes will capture tidal movement over time ,turning the ocean into a soft .misty and etherial veil . Vittorio confided that on occasion he would plant his tripod firmly into the sand and retreat to avoid being swamped by the incoming tide while the camera exposed the scene .

Images on display included Inch Beech the longest in Ireland , Colmeencole Beech which looks out to the deserted Blasket Islands and was a location for the film Ryan's Daughter .Blennervile Windmill ,Ballinskellig Abbey,Kinard,Minard Castle, Ross Castle, Rossbeigh and Slea Head all were subjected to Vittorio's scrutiny .

Dramatic steep cliffs at Slea Head and Dunmore Head which marks the westernmost point of Ireland will reward any visitor or photographer with a dramatic and varied experience . Other areas to explore are Conor Pass and many costal walks as well as the peninsula's archaeological heritage .

Many thanks to Vittorio for sharing his superb images of Co Kerry captured during his many adventures in the west of Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way .
